The Cove & Kilcreggan Literary Society has speakers to give talks on a wide range of social, scientific and cultural topics. Talks are 8pm to 9pm every Monday evening, doors open at 7.30pm, from October through to March with a short break over Christmas. This season, we have an exciting range of 18 illustrated talks, each one followed by tea and biscuits and the chance to catch up with other members.
This year's dates are 1 October to 3 December 2018, beginning again 7 January to 11 March 2019 (AGM evening). We begin with:
MONDAY 1st OCTOBER
Henry IX, an Air-brushed Stuart, by Mgr. John Hughes. The first talk of our October 2018 – March 2019 season.
MONDAY 8th OCTOBER
The Scottish Submarine Centre, by Bob Seaward. Find out how this fascinating local resource was achieved. Your second chance to join.
MONDAY 15th OCTOBER
Machiavelli and the Renaissance, learn from the Master of Strategy in this talk by Jim Carmichael.
MONDAY 22nd OCTOBER
Poetic Injustice – Life Stripped Bare, a joint talk by Arusha Irvine and Jonathan Ward.
MONDAY 29th OCTOBER
On Her Majesty’s Nuclear Service, by Eric Thompson.
The membership subscription is excellent value at only £15 per annum and membership cards are available from the Hon. Treasurer at the Monday meetings. Alternatively, email email@example.com to reserve membership before 1 October.
Visitors are always very welcome at a charge of £2 per night.
