There will be a nautical theme for the 16th Cove and Kilcreggan Real Ale Festival on Saturday.
Twenty ales and six ciders will be on offer. Brews range from the refreshing blonde of Down the Hatch to the dark beauty of Mutiny on the Bounty.
Homemade food will include chilli (meat and veggie, and mild to hot) made by the Festival Chilli Queens, Phil’s superb chicken curry, and tasty beef goulash made by Milan from La Barca, with beef and chicken are supplied by award-winning local butcher Kevin Walker. Alternatively, there will be a selection of filled rolls made to order, child-sized portions, and snacks, wine and soft drinks.
The event is family-friendly: Craigrownie Park fundraisers will provide a children’s space with activities, as well as teas, coffees, soft drinks, juices and sweets, and there will be an outdoor tented family area.
Music will include the return of festival favourites, blues band Harmonica Lewinsky, Dumfries-based folk duo Brownlee and Blantern, the Midgierakers and other acts.
Organised and staffed by locals, the real ale festival is a major fund-raising event for the community-run burgh hall and attracts visitors from all over the country.
All visitors are encouraged to leave the car at home.
Buses run on the hour from Helensburgh, with return buses from Coulport leaving on the hour until 10pm.
The event starts on Saturday at 12 noon and runs until 8pm. The entry fee of £4 includes a souvenir glass, and tasting notes.
