Rhododendrons - Where did they come from?

Rhododendrons, which grow so well in our Scottish climate, are generally thought to have originated in southestern Asia and particularly regions around the Himalayas. But geologically speaking, the Himalayas are relatively new and rhododendrons very old. Local expert, Carol Rowe, explores this paradox and proposes answers to the questions - Where did rhododendrons come from? How did they get here?
