Celebrating 25 Years of Community Ownership: run by the community for the community

This year’s Open Day takes place within the UK-wide Village Halls week supported by Scottish Rural Action. The aim of the week is to shine a spotlight on the contribution that village halls make to rural communities across the UK, with specific focus on health and well-being.  It provides an excellent opportunity to showcase all the life-enriching social and cultural activities that take place in the Hall, and contribute vibrancy within our community.  For example, it hosts meetings of local groups catering for a wide range of interests and all ages, including cultural, adult learning, hobby, and physical exercise.   Through Live@CBH,  it's also a venue for many fund-raising events such as ceilidhs, tribute acts, theatre and concerts, not to mention the annual Hogmanay Dance and the ever-popular Real Ale and Book Festivals.

It is fortunate that the timing also coincides with our celebration of 25 years since the Hall was purchased from Argyll & Bute Council for the princely sum of just £1. Looking to the future, the Open Day gives us an opportunity to outline our aspirations for the next stage in the Hall’s journey and accompanied fund raising plans. It is also a chance to thank our Gold Friends and Friends for their invaluable, loyal moral and financial support, and re-launch a refreshed Friends programme.

The event will include some light entertainment offered by some of the groups who use the hall on a regular basis.

All welcome. Free entry.
